The AP is reporting that Dusty Baker and the Reds are leaning towards a closer-by-committee to replace Ryan Madson.

Lefty Sean Marshall was believed to be the favorite, with the injured Nick Massett also in the mix when he gets healthy. Free agent, Mike Gonzalez was also given a look today, so don’t rule out a signing.

Many are clamoring for the smoke-throwing Aroldis Chapman to take the reigns, but dumping such a young, live arm in the pen seems like a short-sided idea.
